Building for the Next Phase: Tocvan Realigns Its Leadership

New management structure reflects the evolving demands of a company advancing toward development and production.

With today’s announced leadership restructuring, Tocvan Ventures Corp. has sent a clear signal to the capital markets: The company is strategically aligning its leadership structure with the next stage of Gran Pilar’s development.

As Gran Pilar continues to advance from exploration toward development and near-term production objectives, Tocvan’s organizational structure is adapting alongside it.

The focus is not on the individuals themselves, but rather on the changing requirements of the business. As the project advances, so too do the demands placed on the company: From successful exploration to project development and pilot production, ultimately supporting preparations for a potential future commercial mining operation.

The restructuring comes at a time when Tocvan is entering one of the most active periods in its history. More than 9,800 m have already been drilled during 2026, while assay results for over 6,400 m remain pending, according to today’s announcement. At the same time, construction of the company’s fully permitted pilot facility continues to advance, with commissioning targeted for the fourth quarter of 2026.

This combination of active exploration, project development and pilot facility construction highlights how the company’s priorities have evolved in recent years. Tocvan’s activities are no longer focused solely on exploration. In parallel with ongoing drilling, the company is also advancing development initiatives at Gran Pilar. The new leadership structure reflects that progression.

Brodie Sutherland

Brodie Sutherland Assumes the Role of Executive Chair

Brodie Sutherland assumes the role of Executive Chairman, remaining actively involved in the company’s leadership. He will remain actively involved in the company’s day-to-day operations while increasingly focusing on its strategic direction and long-term development.

In his first statement following the announcement, Sutherland explained the rationale behind the transition:

“These changes position Tocvan with a clear, focused leadership structure as we transition from exploration into development and production. I am excited about the Company’s continued growth and the opportunity to provide strategic oversight as Executive Chair while supporting the talented team driving day-to-day execution. Having been involved since the Company’s inception, it is particularly rewarding to see Tocvan advance toward production. The recent additions of Darin Wagner as Special Advisor and Anna Ladd-Kruger to the Board further reinforce our strengthened capabilities across technical, operational, financial, and governance areas.”

His comments suggest that he will increasingly focus his extensive experience on the company’s long-term strategic development, while continuing to play an active role in its day-to-day operations.

Equally noteworthy is the fact that Sutherland continues to serve as Tocvan’s Qualified Person (QP), approving the technical content of the company’s news-releases. This suggests that he is expected to remain closely involved in the geological and technical advancement of the Gran Pilar Project.

Such a division of leadership responsibilities is common among North American mining companies as projects transition from exploration into development and, ultimately, production.

Viewed in that context, the announcement is less about a change in personnel than about aligning the company’s leadership structure with the next stage of its development.

Christopher Gordon

Christopher Gordon to Lead Corporate and Capital Markets Strategy

Christopher Gordon has been appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

His first public remarks following the announcement leave little doubt about where his primary focus will be:

“I am honoured to assume the role of CEO at this pivotal time. Tocvan has made tremendous progress at Gran Pilar, including advancing the permitted pilot mine facility. I look forward to leading the corporate and capital markets strategy as we work to unlock significant shareholder value through near-term production and resource growth.”

Notably, Gordon’s remarks are centered not on geology or drilling, but on corporate strategy and capital markets. That focus aligns closely with his background in corporate development and investor relations.

As Tocvan advances toward development and production, the company will increasingly engage with institutional investors and potential financing sources. Gordon’s background appears well suited to that next stage of the company’s growth.

This emphasis is no coincidence. While geological discoveries have been the primary focus of the company’s recent newsflow, corporate development, institutional investor engagement and capital markets execution are becoming increasingly important as the project matures.

The appointment also reflects Tocvan’s increasing emphasis on corporate development and capital markets as the project advances.

Rodrigo Calles-Montigo

Rodrigo Calles to Lead Operational Execution

Another notable appointment is Rodrigo Calles-Montijo as President of the company.

With more than 30 years of experience in Mexico’s mining industry, Calles brings extensive knowledge of Sonora’s geology, permitting environment and mining operations. As President, he will oversee the operational execution of Tocvan’s projects in Mexico. His appointment underscores the importance Tocvan places on disciplined project execution as the project advances.

His own comments clearly define where his focus will lie:

“As President, I will focus on operational excellence and project advancement in Mexico. With over 30 years of experience in the region and deep knowledge of the Gran Pilar project, I am excited to help drive efficient execution as we move toward maiden resource estimation, PEA, and production.”

One aspect of this statement is particularly noteworthy. In a single sentence, Calles outlines the company’s next major milestones: A maiden resource estimate, a Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) and the transition toward production.

In doing so, he provides a concise roadmap of the key stages that management intends to advance over the coming months and years.

The Organization Keeps Pace with the Project

Only a few years ago, Tocvan’s primary objective was straightforward: To make new discoveries and define high-grade gold and silver mineralization through exploration drilling.

Today, the company’s priorities appear to be expanding beyond exploration alone. Alongside ongoing exploration, Tocvan is also advancing permitting, constructing its pilot facility, completing metallurgical programs, preparing economic studies and evaluating future financing initiatives.

This growing complexity is now reflected in the company’s leadership structure. While Brodie Sutherland assumes overall strategic oversight, Christopher Gordon focuses on corporate development and capital markets and Rodrigo Calles leads operational execution in Mexico.

Rather than concentrating responsibility in a single executive, Tocvan has distributed its core leadership functions among 3 individuals with clearly defined areas of expertise: Long-term strategy and corporate direction, corporate development and capital markets and operational execution on the ground in Mexico. Such a specialized leadership structure is commonly seen among mining companies as they transition from exploration to development and, ultimately, production.

Viewed collectively, these 3 appointments represent far more than a simple reshuffling of management titles. They reflect a company whose leadership responsibilities are adapting in step with the increasing demands of a business advancing from exploration toward development and near-term production.

Strengthening the Leadership Team Continues

Today’s announcement follows several additions to Tocvan’s leadership team earlier this year and represents the latest step in the company’s ongoing efforts to further develop its leadership structure as Gran Pilar advances.

Earlier this year, the company appointed Darin Wagner, P.Geo., as Special Advisor, adding decades of geological and technical expertise. It also welcomed Anna Ladd-Kruger to its Board of Directors as an Independent Director, further enhancing the company’s financial, governance and corporate oversight capabilities.

The resulting leadership team combines technical expertise, operational experience in Mexico and strong corporate development, capital markets and governance capabilities: An organizational structure that appears well aligned with the company’s transition from explorer to emerging producer.

Bottom Line

Today’s announcement conveys a message that extends well beyond a change in executive titles: It reflects a company that is adapting its leadership structure to match the changing demands of its business.

As Gran Pilar advances beyond pure exploration, Tocvan’s priorities are naturally expanding. Exploration remains fundamental, but it is now accompanied by pilot mine construction, permitting, metallurgical work, economic studies, corporate development and preparations for a potential future commercial mining operation. Those expanding responsibilities appear consistent with a broader and more specialized leadership structure.

Taken together, the appointments appear intended to align leadership responsibilities with the company’s changing priorities and support the next phase of Gran Pilar’s advancement.

From a corporate perspective, the restructuring comes at a time when Tocvan is advancing on multiple fronts. With thousands of metres of drill results still pending, construction of the fully permitted pilot facility continuing and important milestones such as a maiden resource estimate and a Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) still ahead, the company appears to be aligning its leadership structure with the changing requirements of the next stage of Gran Pilar’s development.

If Tocvan continues to execute successfully on its current strategy, this leadership transition could, in hindsight, be viewed as an important step in the company’s evolution from explorer toward producer.
